About Us

In 1995 an exhibition of paintings by Attic Artists was held in the Belltable Arts Centre in Limerick, Ireland. It was the first time that Limerick Attic Artists had exhibited their work and the public acknowledged the wonderful talent of the artists with enthusiastic words of praise.

Those taking part in the exhibition met while attending an adult art course which was held in a room on the top floor of an old Georgian House in Limerick City. The room was sometimes referred to as "The Attic", hence the title of the group. From the beginning the objective of Attic Artists was to encourage its members to achieve their full artistic potential. An experienced art teacher was engaged on a one day per week basis. This was a great help to all our members.

The reputation of Attic Artists began to grow rapidly following some very successful exhibitions.

One of the most successful projects by Attic Artists was the production of a calendar in 1998 titled, "Aspects of Limerick", which featured original paintings of Limerick scenes. The calendar was sold out within a short period of time with copies being sent to exiles in many countries around the world. Aspects of Limerick II in 1999 and Aspects of Limerick III in 2001 were donated to raise funds for Cerebral Palsy and Friends of the Elderly.
